The His tag comprises 6 histidine codons. It is a usefull N- or C-terminal tag for detection and purification of proteins in a wide range of host organisms. His tag binds to Ni2+-NTA and Co2+-CMA (Talon) and can be eluted by imidazole 20250 mM or low pH.
