Renilla luciferase (Rluc)
Renilla luciferase catalyzes the oxidative decarboxylation of coelenterazine in the presence of dissolved oxygen to yield oxyluciferin, C02, and blue light ( max = 480 nm). Renilla luciferase is a 36 kDa monomeric protein that does not require posttranslational modification for activity. Therefore, like firefly luciferase, the enzyme may function as a genetic reporter immediately following translation.
